Hit Like A Girl 2016 is the fifth annual global drumming contest for female percussionists. Its purpose is to spotlight female drummers and encourage drumming and lifelong musicianship for girls and women, regardless of age or playing level. The event is produced by Hit Like A Girl Contest in conjunction with founding sponsors DRUM! Magazine, TRX Cymbals, and Tom Tom: The Magazine of Female Drummers. Hit Like A Girl activities are made possible by the generous support of companies in the music products industry.

Only women and girls are eligible to enter. The contest is named “Hit Like A Girl,” after all.
Drummers who make more than $50k/year playing music and have an endorsement contract are not eligible to enter.
Entries are split into <18 and 18+ age groups. Entrants under 14 will need a parent’s consent.
Solos, covers, or gigs are all fair game, just make sure to showcase your skills.
Entry videos will scored by our distinguished panel of judges according to the following criteria:
Technique, chops, originality, creativity, groove, and feel
Showmanship, vibe (fit with the music), and personality
Personal story, background, and potential

Twenty finalists will be chosen in each age group.
The esteemed panel of judges will select 2 finalists from each age group (4 total) each week during the contest entry phase. Winners will be announced weekly beginning February 10, 2016.
The top 10 voted videos will become wild card finalists. You may vote for each video once per day. You must be signed on through HLAG or Facebook to cast your vote.
